NACIO's Awards of Excellence program honors the innovative, creative, and outstanding work of county government communicators and state county associations communications departments throughout the nation with our annual awards program. The categories reflect the work of today’s county communicators and PIOs. Show off your county's work by submitting a nomination! 

Entry Fees: $40 per entry for NACIO members; $60 per entry for non-NACIO members.

    • Short one page / tri fold
    • Multi Page education booklet
    • Annual report

  • Electronic Communications
    • Website
    • Specialized websites / pages (single issue/campaign focused)
    • Email newsletter

    • Short article (less than 250 words)
    • Featured article / editorial (500-700 words)
    • Best headline / campaign title
  • Social Media
    • Single platform campaign (use of only one social media platform e.g., LinkedIn employee recruitment campaign)
    • Social media campaign (use of multiple social media platforms)
  • Graphic Design
    • Logo
    • Special Graphics (t-shirts, posters, banners, ads)
    • Banners / buttons
  • Audiovisual
    • Short video (under 60 sec)
    • Medium length video (1-5 min)
    • Long video (more than 5 min)
    • Video series
    • Podcast series
    • Podcast episode
    • Photo / photo series
  • Campaigns (All-encompassing using multiple communication tools such as social media, print, electronic, graphics, websites, etc.)
    • To include:

    NACIO ANNOUNCES 2023 AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE WINNERS

    The 2023 Awards of Excellence winners were announced during the NACo Annual Conference in Travis County (Austin), Texas. This year ’s Best in Show winner (overall winner), Loudoun County ’s Spotted Lanternfly public information campaign, was presented by NACIO Past President Cragin Mosteller (Florida Association of Counties) during the special NACo Achievement Awards luncheon in front of all conference attendees.     The 2023 program was very competitive, boasting 192 submissions. NACIO would like to thank all who took time to submit their program(s) for consideration. Your service to and work on behalf of America ’s counties is invaluable. We would also like to express sincere thanks to all who served as a judge, contributing their time to the program. Congratulations to this year ’s winners.
